What is Web Scraping:

In simple terms, Web scrapingweb harvesting, or web data extraction is an automated process of collecting large data(unstructured) from websites. The user can extract all the data on particular sites or the specific data as per the requirement. The data collected can be stored in a structured format for further analysis.

What is Web Scraping? — James Le
Steps involved in web scraping:

  1. Find the URL of the webpage that you want to scrape
  2. Select the particular elements by inspecting
  3. Write the code to get the content of the selected elements
  4. Store the data in the required format

It’s that simple !

Credentials for a Productions are stored as plain text in ^Ens.SecondaryData.Password and exposed as plain text via SQL table Ens_Config.Credentials which is not ideal as only admins should know the credentials.

I can create my own adapter etc... to store and use encrypted passwords but does anyone know if there is a standard way to do this in a Production?

Alternatively, am I missing how to secure this so the production can run and someone can monitor and operate a production without access to the SQL table or global?

Here you'll find a simple program that uses Python in an IRIS environment and another simple program that uses ObjectScript in a Python environment. Also, I'd like to share a few of the troubles I went trough while learning to implement this.

Python in IRIS environment

Let's say, for example, you're in an IRIS environment and you want to solve a problem that you find easy, or more efficient with Python.

Hello everyone!

We are Longevica (https://www.longevica.com/) Healthtech, a Boston-based healthy aging digital health startup. Longevica was born as a research company back in 2009; we pioneered the screening of chemicals, which would drastically extend the life span. With 1000 screened pharmaceuticals and 20 000 mice experiments, we have identified specific compounds that, if taken daily, could extend life by years. This discovery leads to two questions: how to measure the effect of aging progress in real-time and how to make this a lifelong habit. This led us to the digital health market to create a new company Longevica HealthTech.

Hello,

searching messages in our Message Bank is quite slow, often runs into timeout.

I wanted to perform a tune table on  Ens_Enterprise_MsgBank.MessageHeader because this apparently has not been done yet - the Tune Table utility shows no entries for selectivity, etc.

I tried

 w $SYSTEM.SQL.Stats.Table.GatherTableStats("""Ens_Enterprise_MsgBank"".MessageHeader")

and got this error message

Table 'Ens_Enterprise_MsgBank.MessageHeader' is mapped to a readonly datababase. No tuning will be performed.0 ЉpTable 'Ens_Enterprise_MsgBank.MessageHeader' is mapped to a readonly datababase.

In this article, I will show you how one can easily create and read Microsoft Word documents using InterSystems IRIS with the leverage power of embedded Python.

Setup

First things first, let’s install the Python module called python-docx. There are a lot of modules to write MS Word files in Python. However, this one is the easiest one to use.

Just execute the following command on the terminal:

When manually coding REST services and using GET /api/mgmnt/v1/:namespace/spec/:application/ to return an OpenAPI spec, how do you specify supported properties (OpenAPI Properties in Use | Creating REST Services | InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2021.1) like responses, definitions, and information in paths like summary and description?

GET /api/mgmnt/v1/:namespace/spec/:application/ | Creating REST Services | InterSystems IRIS Data Platform 2022.2

Using a very basic manual REST service that returns a JSON string I get a pretty basic spec that is not really helpful when it comes to documentation.

Hi Community,

Please read this when you have the time and keep an open mind. Also, you are welcome to tell me it is a terrible idea.

The main reason for this post

If you look at NPM, it has 1.3 million packages. Now ask yourself, is this an achievement or a nightmare?
How many of those packages are no longer supported?
How many of those packages break compatibility on version changes?
How do you know which one to use?

Surely you wanted to use the OpenAPI Specification (OAS) JSON you used for your spec class on the iris-web-swagger-ui iris package. The generated OAS from the ##class(%REST.API).GetWebRESTApplication(...) method is very crude, with no description on the parameters or the expected response structure.

So after creating your REST application from an OAS you should have:

  • A generated application.disp.cls class
  • An application.spec.cls class (we'll add a path to the OpenAPI spec that's residing in the "XData OpenAPI" property)
  • An application.

Foreword

InterSystems IRIS versions 2022.2 and newer feature the ability to authenticate to a REST API using JSON web tokens (JWTs). This feature enhances security by limiting where and how often passwords transfer over the network in addition to setting an expiration time on access.

The goal of this article is to serve as a tutorial on how to implement a mock REST API using InterSystems IRIS and lock access to it behind JWTs.

NOTE I am NOT a developer. I make no claims as to the efficiency, scalability, or quality of the code samples I use in this article.

Introduction

In some of the last few articles I've talked about types between IRIS and Python, and it is clear that it's not that easy to access objects from one side at another.

Fortunately, work has already been done to create SQLAlchemy-iris (follow the link to see it on Open Exchange), which makes everything much easier for Python to access IRIS' objects, and I'm going to show the starters for that.

Thank you @Dmitry Maslennikov !

Hi Developers,

Often we create and edit InterSystems IRIS Interoperability solutions via a set of UI tools that is provided with IRIS. But it is sometimes difficult to setup the development environment to handle changes we make in the UI to source control.

This video illustrates how git-source-control helps with source control Interoperability components while changing it in the UI.

Introduction

Say you have a receiving system that accepts HL7 and provides error messages in field ERR:3.9 in the ACK it returns. You require a different reply code action depending on the error message, however the Reply Code Actions settings for the operation do not provide this level of granularity. One option could be to create a process that takes the ACK and then completes the action you were expecting, however things can get a bit messy if the action is to retry the message, especially when trying to view a message trace.

IRIS configurations and user accounts contain various data elements that need to be tracked, and many people struggle to copy or sync those system configurations and user accounts between IRIS instances. So how can this process be simplified?

In software engineering, CI/CD or CICD is the set of combined practices of continuous integration (CI) and (more often) continuous delivery or (less often) continuous deployment (CD). Can CI/CD eliminate all our struggles?

I work in a team which develops and deploys IRIS clusters. We run IRIS in containers on Red Hat OpenShift container platform.

Hi developers!

As you know InterSystems IRIS besides globals, object, document and XML data-models also support relational where SQL is expected as a language to deal with the data.

And as in other relational DBMS InterSystems IRIS has its own dialect.

I start this post to support an SQL cheatsheet and invite you to share your favorites - I'll update the content upon incoming comments.

Here we go!
